Marketing. It's something many businesses try to do in-house. Until the leads dry up and…
We’re often asked what the magic number is. The answer is – it depends!
In order to answer this question, we will frame it by saying that you need to be posting regularly enough that you’re engaging your followers but not so much that you’re either annoying them or actually killing off your posts.
1. Don’t compete against yourself
If you post now – and then you post again in 10 minutes, Facebook’s not going to be quite sure which one it’s going to show and it can potentially cannibalise the first post. So the rule of thumb here is that there needs to be a minimum of three posts a week and a maximum of 10. We’d suggest starting with seven posts a week, posting daily.
2. Trying something new
Don’t be afraid to add some variety to your posts. In fact, we highly encourage it! Check out this post for a range of ideas.
3. Create a schedule
Consistency is incredibly important when it comes to posting on Facebook. Create a schedule of posts, following a rhythm. This ensure you’ve got quality content, from a variety of sources, so you can engage with your followers in a consistent and relevant way. Here’s an example of a Facebook content rhythm:
Monday: something fun and relatable to help get your followers into the work headspace.
Tuesday: share something about what you do, how you can help your followers. This could be a blog from your website, or an on-the-job photo.
Wednesday: it’s great to inspire people mid-week so perhaps a quote or feelgood story could work here.
Thursday: here you could share something which is complementary (but not competition) to the service you provide.
Friday: end the week on a high with a tongue in cheek post or a funny meme or video, which is related to the service you provide.
Weekend: perhaps something people might like to read while they’re sitting down, relaxing, which is somehow related to what you do.
This is just an example of what your rhythm might look like. Once you’ve had a think about what might work for your brand, click here to create a fantastic content schedule.
